A gas chromatograph is a tool for the separation and analysis of multi-component mixtures. It uses an inert gas as the mobile phase and adopts chromatographic column separation technology. When multiple substances to be analyzed enter the chromatographic column, due to the different distribution coefficients of each component in the chromatographic column, the flow rates of each component in the chromatographic column are different. After passing through a certain column length, the mixed components leave the chromatographic column separately and enter the detector.

Operating Principle

The Gas Chromatograph (GC) utilizes an inert gas as the mobile phase and employs column separation technology. As the analyte mixture enters the chromatographic column, individual components move at different rates due to their varying distribution coefficients within the column. Once separated, the components sequentially enter the detector, where they are converted into electrical signals and sent to a data workstation for comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analysis.
